- Magento 2 production experience: proven track record managing Magento 2 in live environments.
- Linux & AWS expertise: strong daily experience with Linux administration and AWS services.
- Web stack proficiency: solid knowledge of Nginx, PHP, MySQL, Redis, Varnish, and OpenSearch.
- Security & edge protection: ability to configure Cloudflare and AWS WAF correctly and safely.
- Incident readiness: you can monitor systems, diagnose root causes, and resolve issues quickly.
- Performance mindset: you proactively look for bottlenecks and implement improvements that measurably increase speed and stability.
- Reliability practices: you manage backups, updates, logs, and alerting responsibly.
- Traffic protection: you can prevent bots and attacks while avoiding false positives that impact real customers.
- Collaboration: you work effectively with Magento developers and can explain server-side constraints and recommendations.
Soft skills we value: we prefer proactive problem solvers who can work independently, document decisions clearly, and communicate status updates calmly during incidents. Full-time availability is required.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a full-time Server Administrator to manage and maintain our Magento 2 website in a production environment.
- Monitor servers continuously and respond quickly to issues to minimize downtime.
- Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure and core services, including Linux.
- Administer and tune the web stack: Nginx, PHP, MySQL, Redis, Varnish, and OpenSearch.
- Improve website speed, reliability, and stability through performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Configure and maintain Cloudflare and AWS WAF to protect the site while preserving legitimate traffic.
- Reduce bot traffic and hostile activity without blocking real customers, including VPN users where applicable.
- Own operational hygiene: manage backups, updates, log retention, and server alerts.
- Collaborate with our Magento developers when server-side changes or debugging are needed, translating app requirements into safe infrastructure actions.
We expect proactive ownership, clear communication, and independent problem-solving when priorities shift during incidents or performance investigations.
Benefits
- Full-time remote work, allowing you to manage production systems from anywhere.
- Ownership over a critical Magento 2 environment with clear responsibility for performance, security, and stability.
- Collaboration with Magento developers when server changes or investigations are required.
If you match the requirements and enjoy taking independent ownership of live infrastructure, we’d like to review your profile.
Desirable
- Experience troubleshooting Magento 2 performance issues (cache behavior, indexing/search tuning, database bottlenecks, and Varnish/PHP-FPM tuning).
- Familiarity with secure deployment workflows and rollback strategies for infrastructure changes.
- Practical knowledge of WAF rule tuning to reduce false positives for legitimate traffic (including VPN users).
- Experience with observability practices (log analysis, metrics, alert tuning) and maintaining actionable alerting.
- Any prior work with OpenSearch for e-commerce search relevance and operational stability.
